APS Senior Manager, Gary Taylor provides identification of small assemblages of finds both internally for APS as well as for other external archaeological contracting units.

Gary is able to provide analysis and identification of the majority of small finds from a wide chronology.  In particular, he has additional specialisms in glass (late-medieval, post-medieval and early modern) and metalwork (Roman and later).

Gary routinely examines assemblages from sites in the East Midlands and East Anglia as well as from other regions. He has recorded and analysed small finds on behalf of APS and other clients from small-scale watching briefs to more complex urban excavations.

Services include:

  • identification and analysis of small and medium assemblages of small finds;
  • recording to an appropriate level in accordance with current guidelines and standards, and
  • advice on discard and storage policies.

Gary also provides the in-house expertise on clay pipes for APS.
